Unfortunately, there are probably 100 TERRIBLE low-quality marketing books that will waste your time for every 1 great book. The problem is that so many books nowadays are self-published on Amazon by people who decided they were an expert yesterday and want a book with their name on it to appear credible, but they have no real-world track record or original insights.

When choosing a marketing book, here’s how to know which ones to read and which to AVOID:

  • Seek recommendations from trusted sources. If you have a favourite thought leader that you have learned a lot from, then check what books they recommend. For starters, here are lists of books recommended by Seth Godin and Alex Hormozi (video).
  • Make sure the book is relevant to your needs. Some marketing books are written for entrepreneurs, small business owners, or startup founders. Others are made for high-level executives, marketing leaders, and corporate consultants.
